Making the January return to work with no holiday time off in site bearable.
Since company policy does not allow employees to accept gifts from vendors the company has come up with a really great way to take care of this. All gifts throughout the year are put aside and at Christmas time they hold a raffle/auction. Most items are in the raffle but the higher price tag items are auctioned. The company usually adds several items to the auction (gift baskets with products, local pro sports ticket packages, a golf outing/luncheon with one of the owners, paid days off) to make it more personal and raise more money. All the proceeds go to a different local charity each year.
This was my take this year. For the 2012 season that is! Sorry for the overrun on the size, not sure how to correct it. There was also a bottle of Chardonnay but I traded for a bottle of hard pear cider that I've been wanting to try but didn't want to pay for a full six pack only to find out it's gross. I know I got the short end of the deal but I really don't care for whites.
